Baru-baru ini dirilis, Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 2 mendukung OpenDocument Format versi 1.1. Dengan sejarah ternoda Microsoft terhadap menyalahgunakan standar untuk keuntungan dan preferensi jelas untuk sendiri Microsoft Office Open XML, apa yang bisa Microsoft ODF mendukung kemungkinan itu?
Office 2007 SP2 mendukung ODF didukung di luar kotak. Tidak ada untuk menambahkan atau mengaktifkan: Itu Hanya Karya (tm). OpenDocument terdaftar antara lain dalam format File dan dialog Simpan. Hebatnya Excel dan PowerPoint daftar OpenDocument terakhir. Perintah bukanlah abjad (XPS datang sebelum OpenDocument) atau tidak dalam hal kesetiaan konversi (karena CSV juga terjadi terlebih dahulu).
Untuk mengevaluasi kualitas, saya membuka ODF_text_reference_v3.odt dokumen acuan dalam Word 2007. Secara keseluruhan konversi yang terhormat untuk apa pada dasarnya adalah rilis versi 1.0 untuk Microsoft Office. Bug saya perhatikan adalah:
* Dilacak perubahan hilang.
* Tingkat kedua daftar ordered adalah indentasi seperti tingkat pertama (yaitu, tidak dimaksudkan dengan benar).
* Sebuah gambar inline itu keluar dari tempat.
* Satu hyperlink aktif bukanlah biru atau digarisbawahi (meskipun hyperlink lain baik-baik saja).
* Semua bentuk kontrol hilang.
* Tidak persis format bug, tapi Word 2007 menganggap "OpenDocument" meskipun salah eja "WordPerfect" diakui.
Saya juga diuji disimpan fungsi spreadsheet sederhana di OpenOffice.org 3.1 (release candidate 1) dan membukanya di Excel. bagan A dikonversi dengan baik, tapi diam-diam Excel dikonversi semua fungsi untuk nilai terakhir mereka. Itu sering baik untuk melihat tapi tak berharga untuk kolaborasi. Microsoft tampaknya menunggu OpenFormula (ODFF) standar untuk selesai, tapi Rob Weir menunjukkan bahwa beberapa pelanggan Microsoft Office sudah spreadsheet formula penghematan ODF menggunakan OpenXML / ODF Translator Add-in untuk Office, sebuah proyek yang melibatkan Microsoft.

Microsoft telah membuka pintu ODF dan akan menekankan pada interoperabilitas yang lebih baik, bahkan sinis batin saya memiliki waktu sulit membayangkan tidak akan meningkatkan interoperabilitas. Dengan Office 2007 SP2 dan WordPad di Windows 7 mendukung ODF, masa depan terlihat cerah untuk OpenDocument Format. Apakah Microsoft berbalik lembaran baru? investasi baru-baru ini Microsoft dalam ODF, PDF, dan web standar (di Internet Explorer 8) mungkin lebih fungsi dari peraturan pemerintah atau permintaan dari goodwill bisnis perusahaan.
